Merry Jo was born and raised in Miami, Florida, the child of Cuban immigrants escaping Fidel Castro's Cuba. Primarily a Theatre artist, some of her recent theatre work includes Body Awareness (Island City Stage), Women's Minyan (West Boca Theatre), Henry V (New Theatre), The Killing Of Sister George (Rising Action Theatre), and Steel Magnolias (Broward Stage Door). Merry Jo has been blessed with 2 original works written for her and premiered in South Florida: Mexico City by David Leddick, based on a true story, and 1000 Homosexuals by Michael Yawney, the story of Anita Bryant's campaign to repeal gay rights. Venturing into the TV realm, and if audiences didn't blink watching the new "Charlie's Angels", they would have seen her as the villain's chatty housekeeper. She just completed the indie short film "The Denied", won "Best Actress" for the short film "The Art of Terror" in the Miami 48 Hour Film Project, and will be seen in "Lila & Eve" with Viola Davis. She can also be heard on the voice-track for Ballet Flamenco La Rosa's La Dama MacBeth. Merry Jo is very proud to be a founding member and past President of The Women's Theatre Project. Show less «
