Matthieu Charneau was born in Chateauroux, France on November 23, 1988.In 2010, Charneau did his first photo-shoot after being spotted by a photographer during a visit to Paris. He was 21 when he began modeling for different artists until Nicola Formichetti chose him as the lead of his fashion film Brothers Of Arcadia produced for the Mugler Campaign in 2011.In late 2011, he moved to Paris where he attended the prestigious European Acting School Cours Florent.In 2012, he worked with the famous French artists Pierre & Gilles and posed in three of their photographs entitled Johnny Guitar, Narcissus and Ohe Matelot which are being shown in many exhibitions all around the world.That same year, Matthieu was chosen as part of the jury for the French Film Festival Cheries-Cheris together with Spanish actress Rossy de Palma and French writer and screen writer Philippe Besson.After modeling for various publications including the magazines Yearbook, Les Inrockuptibles and Schon Magazine, Matthieu began his acting career in early 2013 staring in several short films. He landed the role of Samson in Coup de Grace directed by Justin Wu - a contemporary adaptation of Delilah Myth from the Bible. The film has been selected for the San Jose International Film Festival 2013 in California as well as for the Fashion Film Festival ASVOFF 2013 at the Georges Pompidou Center Art Museum in Paris.In 2014, while traveling in Los Angeles and New York, Matthieu was featured as one of the OUT 100 in the prestigious OUT Magazine.Back in Paris, Matthieu appeared in Arnaud fait son 2eme Film, second feature film of the French director Arnaud Viard after Clara et Moi in 2003. He also played the lead in the short I am Cornered directed by Nicolas Goergen which screened at the Nikon Film Festival.In 2015, a week after wrapping the Belgium film And Sunday, The Deluge in which he plays the lead role, Matthieu joins Lee Jones, Stephen Moyer and Katey Sagal in Kurt Sutter's new Series The Bastard Executioner as recurring character Frenchie.
