Lawrence Gooley was born and raised in northern New York State, the son of Anna and Ronald. He developed a love for history and writing at a very early age. As a young adult, he also developed a love for the outdoors, and has hiked, biked, and canoed the Adirondacks ever since.In 2004, Lawrence and his partner Jill started their publishing company, Bloated Toe Publishing. The two conceived the company name during a particularly bug-infested hiking trip. Since then, Lawrence has been a prolific author, writing many books about northern New York/Adirondack history and true crime.In 2013, Lawrence was featured in the Investigation Discovery special Bloody Marys (2013), which includes a segment based on the murder of Sarah Brennan by her neighbor, Mary Farmer. The murder is chronicled in Lawrence's book, "25 Diabolical Adirondack Murders: The Twisted, Fiendish Deeds of North Country Killers" (2012). Show less «
