Laura Meakin is a British actress, known for her portrayal of Hesther Carney in the fourth and final season of TURN: Washington's Spies (2017), Emily Gearhart in TV Mini-Series The Wronged One (2016), Money Monster (2016), directed by Jodie Foster and Tim Burton's Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007).Laura began her career as a professional dancer performing in the UK and abroad. Her talent was spotted early on as she received a scholarship to the prestigious Arts Educational School in London and later winning a place to attend the famous Lee Strasberg Institute in New York.It was at drama school she was spotted by director Daniel Peacock who cast her as heart throb teacher Miss Blackburn in his award winning Channel 5 hit TV show Billie: Girl of the Future. She also went on to work on other TV series for Channel 4, ITV and BBC in the UK.Laura has worked extensively on stage in London's West End, National and International tours in many productions from classic comedies, well-loved musicals and opera to Shakespeare.After playing the ultimate sexy hooker in the world premiere stage adaptation of the controversial erotic cult Ken Russell film Crimes of Passion, Laura went on to appear on the silver screen with Johnny Depp in Tim Burton's Sweeney Todd for DreamWorks as well as starring alongside Scandal and Alien's star Leon Herbert in the London-based independent thriller Quickest Way to a Man's Heart for Buccaneer Films.Other film work includes The Bridge for Guiding Light Productions, Suppressors for Genesis Films, Junction for Broedmachine, Price of Honour for Parallel and Thugs, Mugs and Violence for New Breed Productions.Laura recently starred in a new television pilot The Mozart Mysteries by Bafta Award winning writer and director Ed Tracy for Too Tall Productions, TV series On the Case with Paula Zahn: Path of Fears for Investigation Discovery, Lillian in the film Strand and Emily Gearhart in the TV mini-series The Wronged One.Laura can be seen in the film Nick and Nicky alongside Blade Runner and Wall Street star Sean Young and in the new Jodie Foster film Money Monster starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts as well as the new film adaptation of LaChiusa's celebrated musical, Hello Again, originally based on Schnitzler's play La Ronde.
