Manchester born Kiran was born to a headmistress mother whom had been educated in the USA and a university lecturer father who settled in England.Beginning as a dancer, Kiran's stage career began at the age of three, and had her first role as a talking, dancing cow with the vocal intonations of Margaret Thatcher. She was accepted at Rose Bruford College to study classic and modern acting technique; her audition piece chosen from Arnold Wesker's Chicken Soup with Barley. In a moment of synchronicity ten years later Kiran was delighted to meet him in person.During her training she enjoyed being cast in productions that allowed her to play roles as diverse as Medea and Ranyeskaya from the Cherry Orchard, and also in new writing as the role of Eve. Following graduation she appeared in Cold Enough for Snow, with Maureen Lipman before going on to create the role of "exotically brooding" Umbro Jaan in Bollywood; a love story which played at the Riverside Studios and The Derby Playhouse. Her performance being hailed as "Genuinely Funny" (Salil Tripathi for Tehelka). This success was followed by Murder in Mind with David Suchet and James McAvoy, in which she played Jan best friend to Gillian Kearney's character.Television work includes guest roles in Casualty, Coronation Street, Life on Mars and Doctors.
