Kensley Keys is an American actor from Soso, MS. He and his (fraternal) twin brother attended grade school at Immaculate Conception Catholic school in Laurel, MS; then proceeded to graduate from Northeast Jones High School in 2002. After high school, Kensley attended the University of Southern Mississippi, where he graduated in 2009, earning his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communication and Journalism in 2009. After graduation, Kensley relocated to Jackson, MS after graduating and worked for WDBD FOX40 News and WAPT News as a photojournalist. After working in the news industry, Kensley worked other jobs before exploring the opportunity of working on films as a Production Assistant (Starve, Hotel Hell). Kensley moved back to Laurel in 2013 and returned to the news industry.In 2016, Kensley received his first opportunity to work in front of the camera instead of behind when the production of the 2016 Civil War drama, Free State of Jones, began. Kensley had the opportunity to meet with the film's director Gary Ross and the movie's star, Matthew McConaughey. Kensley portrayed the roles of "Freedman" and "Maroon". " This movie was, and will always be special to me because it is based on a true story about my family history and hometown (Soso/Jones County, MS)" Kensley states.After the production of "Free State of Jones". Kensley was contacted to work on another production, OWN Network's Queen Sugar- Season 1.To date, Kensley uses the skills he has acquired since attending the University of Southern Mississippi to start his own video production company, Scenic Films, LLC. His company created several types of productions, ranging from family events to corporate and entertainment productions.When not on-set, Kensley enjoys spending time with his family, children and friends. He also enjoys traveling, producing videos, attending athletic events, as he is a die-hard New Orleans Saints and Southern Miss football fan.
