Kay Bess is an American actor. She studied Meisner Technique at The Ruskin School in Santa Monica, and is a member of The Actor's Co-Op Theater Company in Hollywood. She was raised in Santa Barbara, California by her parents Shirley Compton and Howard Bess, a high school English teacher and Baptist minister, respectively, who divorced when Kay was 15 years old. She trained in the BFA acting program at The University of Southern California, and studied Philosophy at UCLA. Kay is also a writer, singer, and poet.While her creative interests are varied, Kay's primary focus has been voiceover. She's been heard on hundreds of TV and radio commercials including Motel 6, Intuit, Hidden Valley Ranch, Kaiser Permanente, Apple Computers, Jergen's, Toyota, Hyundai, Big O Tires, Oster Small Appliances, Curves Fitness, Sears Optical, and Southern California Edison. She's done promos for CNN, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, Comedy Central, The Disney Channel, and CTV News Canada. She has narrated documentaries airing on HGTV, The Discovery Channel, WE Women's Entertainment, The Learning Channel, and can still be heard as the voice of The Property Brothers TV series on HGTV (seasons 1-4.)Kay published her first book of poetry in 2011.Kay has one child, a daughter, born in 2003.
