Growing up on a farm, Kate Elizabeth Jean is most at home surrounded by nature and animals. A lover of all things vintage, from the young age of two she insisted on dressing herself in clothing from other times. A young independent Kate would often be seen in public wearing dresses miles too big, back the front, a large floppy hat, or a birds nest hair-do she'd insisted on doing herself. With a growing passion for performing and making people feel, she began training at the Melbourne Acting Studio before being offered a place in the St Martins Youth Arts Program, where she was part of the ensemble for 'When Sand Becomes Glass'. Kate trained extensively at the Howard Fine Acting Studio since it's opening in Australia, participating in Master-classes with Howard Fine, David Coury and Jean-Louis Rodrigue. At home in period dramas, Kate landed the lead role in 'Memento Mori', fantasy film 'Milui' and most recently the psychological thriller 'The Shadow' where she was awarded 'Best Actress' by the Melbourne City Independent Film Awards. Her performances in short films 'The Key' and 'Midnight Saphires' both earned her awards (Best Actress - RMIT), while her portrayal of Jenny in the psychological drama 'Never Forgiven' saw her nominated for 'Best Actress' by the Australian Screen Industry Awards (ASIN 2015).With her classic look and ability to laugh at herself Kate has been likened to Kate Winslet, Nicole Kidman and Isla Fisher. A vintage farm girl and avid traveler, Kate relishes opportunities to experience other places and times through the many characters she brings to life. Show less «
