Karen Tarleton's work encompasses film, television, theater, voiceover and singing, in both the U.S. and Great Britain.Karen was born and raised in the Allegheny Mountains of northwestern Pennsylvania, part of a large musical and artistic family where guitars, banjos, ukuleles, mandolins, pianos, beautiful voices and jam sessions were the norm. School plays, singing awards (first chair), a member of her high school's elite Ensemble singing group, majorette, honor society, and one of the senior class Top Six are some of Karen's accomplishments through her school years. She majored in English and music in college, then set out for Los Angeles, where her first job was with the advertising firm Cunningham and Walsh. She was then hired by Goodson-Todman Productions, where she learned the game show business. Next came freelance work in TV specials and variety shows in Las Vegas and Nashville, as script supervisor and associate director.Having learned a great deal behind the camera during these years, Karen began the transition to the other side of the camera, and landed her second audition as an actress: a recurring role on General Hospital, followed by a recurring role on The Young and the Restless, then on to many other TV shows. She studied with acting coaches for film and TV, took classes for musical theater, and performed in many classical and contemporary stage productions and musicals. She moved to England, became a member of British Equity, and worked for three years in England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales. Back in the States she has continued steady work in film, TV, theater, commercials, voice-overs and singing (both secular and liturgical).Karen is a member of the Los Angeles Classical Theatre Lab and the Writers and Actors Lab.
