Karen-Eileen Gordon is most well-known to audiences from her two seasons on the hit Starz Original Drama "Magic City," as sassy New Yorker Florence.Born in Philadelphia, Gordon spent her early years in New Jersey before her real-estate-executive parents headed southeast to Florida, where she grew up. Drawn to all things creative from an early age, Gordon wrote/produced her first animated short (about a tooth) at age seven, and had her first short story placed in the elementary school library at age ten. A debate champion in humorous interpretation, she won state and national tournaments throughout her high school years. An avid learner and strong student, Gordon studied at Harvard, graduating with a degree in Economics (and an abundance of coursework in French and Art History). While there, the student body voted her "One of the Ten Funniest People" on campus, thanks to her daily-changing outgoing answering machine messages. After college, she won two fellowships in Europe, where she worked in the Paris bank Société Générale and spent a year in the United Kingdom as a Rotary International goodwill ambassador. While in England, Gordon did graduate work at the University of Bristol's renowned film school, where she discovered a love for working in front of the camera. Also at Bristol, Gordon worked with a BBC producer in writing and voicing an original radio drama and became hooked on voice-over, continuing to work steadily in that arena today. Upon returning to Florida, she joined the corporate universe, working for the Armed Forces Radio Network as a writer-producer and as an advertising copywriter (winning a Gold Addy Award). She soon was welcomed into Miami's hit improvisation troupe "Mental Floss" and booked her first television role in ABC's "Maximum Bob," directed by Kenneth Fink.On film, Gordon stars in the independent comedy feature "A Free Bird" as southern whirlwind Tammy, directed by George Foster Peabody and British Academy of Film and Television Arts award-winner Gregg Russell. The film, making its way onto screens in the United States, recently held two sold-out fund raising screenings for The One Fund and The Wounded Warrior Project. A strong improviser, Gordon has improvised roles for both television and film, including her improvised-in-French performance as artist Vojuby in the futuristic thriller, "Man Without A Head," with Rhys Coiro, Shannyn Sossaman and Taryn Manning and her completely improvised performance as news reporter Christine Anderson in North by Northwest's "Oy Vey! My Son is Gay!" with Carmen Electra, Lainie Kazan, Saul Rubinek and Bruce Vilanch. Gordon also co-starred as clueless pampered princess Autumn, along with Warren Christie and Sara Foster, in 20th Century Fox's "Bachelor Party 2," with her work winning her critical notice for delivering the movie's funniest female performance.Additional film credits include roles in "Meet the Fockers" for director Jay Roach, "American Dreamz" for director Paul Weitz, "Bad News Bears" for director Richard Linklater, and "Legally Blonde 2" for director Charles Herman-Wurmfeld.On television, Gordon guest starred on A & E's "The Glades" as snake lawyer Joanne Riley for director Lee Rose, and has shared the TV screen with: Larry David in HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm," directed by Robert B. Weide; Michael Chiklis in ABC's "No Ordinary Family," directed by David Semel; Miley Cyrus in Disney's "Hannah Montana," directed by Shelley Jensen; and Leven Rambin in Fox's "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles," directed by Scott Peters. Additional television credits include USA's "Sins of the City," directed by Leon Ichaso and SyFy's "The Chronicle," opposite Elaine Hendrix and directed by John Kretchmer. In addition to being an accomplished actress, Gordon is an accomplished writer, with extensive experience in radio, advertising and theatre. She is a huge fan of the wellness arts, and a long-time practitioner of both the Japanese energy healing art of Reiki and Hatha Yoga. Based in Los Angeles, she adores working on both coasts.
