Originally from Mazatlan Sinaloa, Mexico, Karen landed in North Carolina in her early 20's, not speaking a word of English or knowing anyone. She eventually made her way to Los Angeles and began studying acting with renowned coaches Howard Fine and Judith Weston. Bethzabe had her acting debut in Garcia Lorca's play 'The House of Bernanda the Alba' at the East LA Repertory Theatre where she received rave reviews in Backstage (2007)Television audiences first got to know Karen after landing the role of Paulette Vazquez in the popular CBS show 'CSI', Directed by Martha Coolidge (2011) and as Eufemia Garcia in the hit ABC Family/Freeform series 'Switched at Birth' (2015). She has also emerged in numerous indie films, including producing and starring in the film 'Death and Cremation' alongside Oscar nominee Brad Dourif. (2010)Karen Bethzabe is an actress who can currently be seen as a recurring guest star in the AMC hit television show "Fear the Walking Dead" as axe -wielding Elena Reyes a problem-solver who had to make a terrible decision in the gripping cold open. In The episode "Do not Disturb" Bethzabe took the media by storm and gain International recognition due to her powerful work and controversial character.Bethzabe can also be seen on the festival circuit and special screening events (2017) in Erahm Christopher's debut feature film "Listen." The story follows a group of conflicted youths and adults struggling for personal connections are united by self-destruction, tragedy and redemption.Up next, Karen is in pre-production as the writer and producer of the short film 'The Carnival King', which is set in her home town of Mazatlan Sin.She currently lives in Los Angeles and visits her family regularly in Mexico and Norway.
