Josette was born and raised in Vancouver, BC Canada and earned her Theatre Degree from Simon Fraser University. Her parents are originally from the Philippines.Josette is a Jessie Richardson Theatre Award nominee and was the first recipient of Vancouver Asian Canadian Theatre's Walk of Fame award, which acknowledged her work with the Asian-Canadian theatre community. She was featured as an "actor to watch" in the latest Georgia Straight's Fall Arts Preview and was named among the 30 under 30 for the city of Delta. Josette was also crowned winner in the Microsoft Windows Canada's DO or DIE competition. She won the contest by surviving in Portugal with no money, food, or shelter - just her creativity. I always thought it was a disadvantage to be the sensitive kid, to cry and show emotion. Especially in an Asian family, you don't have many opportunities to do that, and when you do you're scolded. I was being bullied in school, and after school I would just sit down at the piano and I wouldn't be able to get through a song because I would cry. But my teacher was amazing. Mr. Kerry would say, 'Just close you eyes and play. If tears come out, tears come out'. Show less «
