He is the youngest son of rhythm and blues STAX icon Johnnie Taylor (1968's monster R&B smash "Who's Makin' Love?" and the 1976 Columbia hit "Disco Lady", among others). "I grew up as a backstage baby and began going to dope concerts at a very young age. " Taylor recalls. Jon's acting career began as a little nine-year-old boy with a big Afro eating a giant hamburger for a supermarket commercial. As an adolescent, he appeared in the musicals such as The Wiz, Damn Yankees, and Little Shop of Horrors. At 15, Jon starting lead singing and playing guitar in rock bands and continued to lead bands throughout college. After moving to Los Angeles, Taylor spent much of his time recording and traveling the world as a professional lead guitarist with major label artists. JHT played shows across the U.S. and Europe and has appeared on The Carson Daly Show, The Ellen Degeneres Show, Soul Train, Top of the Pops, and more. In 2007, Jon began to get serious about screenwriting and acting again. He began writing several TV pilots and features. After attending the Los Angeles Film School, Taylor created a music-comedy web short with actor/writer/comedian Don Reed called The Love Echo. He also created, directed, produced, and starred in a web series called "Uncle B. On..." where his elderly alter ego discusses current events. Now he is embarking upon his most ambitious project yet, creating, writing (music and screenplays), producing, directing, and starring in the rock n' roll comedy Sweet. Show less «
