Hailing from Toronto, Canada, jon de Leon grew up in the inner-city neigbourhood of St. Jamestown, a densely populated multicultural area of Toronto. The son of a political activist, jon spent much of his youth attending Peace rallies, protests, and political rallies in opposition to the Marcos Dictatorship of the Philippines. As well, he witnessed the formation of the community theatre organziation CBCW (Carlos Bulosan Cultural Workshop) co-founded by his father. It was this first exposure to theatre that led to his passion for the arts and the pursuit of a career as a theatre performer and practitioner. After completing his BFA in acting and play writing from Concordia University in Montreal, jon returned to Toronto and steadily worked in both theatre and television. Toronto stage credits include featured roles in Shakespeare's "Hamlet" (Driftwood Theatre), "Comedy Of Errors" (Festival Of Classics), Beckett's "Waiting For Godot" (Heritage Theatre), and "Every Letter Counts" by Nina Lee Aquino (Factory Theatre). He has appeared in various television shows including "Flashpoint" (CTV/CBS), "King" (Showcase), "Warehouse 13" (SyFy), and most recently in "Ascension" (SyFy), "Rookie Blue" (CTV), and "Lost Girl" (Showcase). However, chief among his achievements is his time at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Stratford, Canada -- North America's leading Classical Repertory Theatre. There he performed in various featured roles including "Bartholomew Fair", "Twelfth Night", "Julius Caesar" and "Love's Labour's Lost" under the direction of the late Michael Langham, who returned to the Festival in 2008 for what would be his last show as a director. While at the Festival, jon completed two years of intensive classical theatre training at the Birmingham Conservatory under the mentorship and direction of Canada's most revered stage actors, Martha Henry.
