He later enrolled at the University of Cape Town (UCT) where he studied drama and performing arts.After university, Jo began his career with small cameo parts in sitcoms such as: SOS (Penguin Films), Scoop Schoombie (Penguin Films), Madam and Eve (Penguin Films), Stokvel (Penguin Films), Madam and Eve (Penguin Films). He also worked as a featured lead on a number of TV commercials for brands such as: Vodacom, Old Mutual, Sinutab and Sports Illustrated.
