Jennifer Alexander is a native New Yorker and has been performing since she was a child. Growing up in Levittown on Long Island, the daughter of a racehorse jockey/musician and interpreter for the deaf, she was always surrounded by music at home and was encouraged to explore and express herself creatively. She began dancing at 3, cheerleading at 6, singing and instrumental instruction at 8, and competed in all three throughout her childhood. By the age of 5 she signed with an agent and was already attuned to the art of taxiing around the city auditioning for commercials and walked the beauty pageant red carpet on occasion, spilling the truth to pageant hosts and casting directors instead of giving typical responses (which unfailingly mention a quest for world peace). Teamed with her brother, Steven, they toured the eastern seaboard competing in tap and won the title of Regional Tap Dance Champions at ages 9 and 8, placing 5th in the nation. As a brother/sister dance team they regularly performed at venues across Long Island and NYC including the prestigious Waldorf Astoria and were invited back to audition four times to appear on the television show Star Search (1983) hosted by Ed McMahon. Jennifer continued music instruction throughout her school years and was one of only nine 1st sopranos in New York State to be selected to perform with the All-State Women's Chorus and she achieved the high honor of being selected to perform with the All-Eastern Chorus. She became enamored with musical theatre while in high school and performed on stages throughout Long Island and NYC. Involved in upwards of 80 productions, Jennifer is especially noted for her roles on stage in "Into the Woods," playing the Baker's Wife and Cinderella in three separate productions. Highlights include "Mary Poppins" as the title character, Daisy Mae in "Li'l Abner", Dorothy in "The Wizard of Oz," Patty Simcox in "Grease," Susan in "Company," and she originated the role of Jephthah's Daughter in the NYC premiere of "Sacrifices," a play in one act performed as part of Naked Theater with Original Binding Productions for which she garnered stellar reviews.Jennifer has always had a huge love of movies, greatly inspired at a young age by fun outtakes and gag reels during the end credits. As her fascination with the camera grew, she secured more roles in film and television working on dozens of productions. She voiced the commanding yet playful anime character of Misato in one of the first English dub versions of the film Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion (1997), the final film in the enormously popular Shin Seiki Evangerion (1995) series. She played Vicki, the robot from Small Wonder (1985)-turned-animal rights activist in the indie comedy Mission Idiot (2003) which premiered at The Screening Room in Tribeca, and portrayed Kathleen Kennedy, the sister of JFK with a tragic tale of her own in the popular Japanese TV show Sekai Gyoten News (2000). Jennifer resided in Australia for several years and while on the Gold Coast she completed voice work for the series finale of the Emmy Award-winning CGI-animated BBC series Animalia (2007) which aired worldwide and shot a featured role in the faith-based courtroom drama Suing the Devil (2011) starring Malcolm McDowell on location in Sydney. In 2014, Jennifer appeared as a cute but slightly insane Code Pink Protester on The Daily Show (1996) and is a woman of many scarves on the improvisational sketch comedy The Chris Kepford Show (2015) which has gathered a fan base on funnyordie.com, airs weekly on MNN, streams live on MNN.org, and is available on Vimeo On Demand. She is a graduate of Hofstra University where she trained classically as a mezzo-soprano. She holds a B.A. in Liberal Arts with specializations in Music, Philosophy, and Sociology and studied at The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts (formerly The School for Film and Television) in NYC and the Actors Centre Australia in Sydney.(2015) Jennifer is based in New York and is writing a feature film.
