Jamye Méri Grant is an American actress from Houston, Texas who's childhood as a preacher's daughter in a southern Baptist church gave her a flare for the dramatic. She first began performing in church choirs and dance teams. When asked what she would be "when she grew up," she exclaimed she would have 12 jobs, one for each month of the year, thus her interest in acting was sparked. Her time at the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA) was invaluable as she spent 3 hours daily training in acting, movement and voice/speech. Her career potential was first revealed in 2008 when she won the national youngARTS competition and received the prestigious Presidential Scholar Award in the Arts. This artistic achievement afforded her not only her professional Off-Broadway debut but also allowed her to meet President Bush and perform with 20 young artists selected from thousands across the country at the Kennedy Center. Only three of this small group were actors. After this accomplishment, Jamye attended Pepperdine University and received her BA in Theatre Arts and Media Production and was honored to perform the role of Catherine alongside Emmy-Nominated actor Michael O'Neill in a collegiate production of "Proof" by David Auburn. Jamye has recently shot the pilot for "SMH" a sit-com produced by Kevin Boyd (The Jamie Foxx Show, Girlfriends). SMH stars Jamye, Robert Ri'Chard (Coach Carter, One on One), Marcus Paulk (Moesha), and Jackie Long (ATL, Soul Men) and features Jonathan "Lil J" McDaniel (Hit the Floor). Show less «
