Hilary Rose is an Irish comedy actress, writer and DJ. She is best known for her comedy character Handy Sandie from the hit Irish TV comedy show Republic of Telly. Hilary created the character Handy Sandie which she co-writes with her husband, award winning director Peter Foott.Her creation of the comedy character Handy Sandie for Republic of Telly in 2010 gave her the break she wanted into TV comedy. With thousands of followers on facebook and twitter and over half a million hits on youtube, Handy Sandie became an unexpected phenomenon.In 2012 another of her characters came to life in the form of Irinka, the Russian streetwalker from RTE 2's risque hidden camera show The Fear. She also played everyone's favourite, The Nun. The show was hugely popular, trending on Twitter 3 weeks in row.Trained classically as an actor Hilary studied at The Gaiety School of Acting, the Irish Film Academy and Colaiste Stiofain Naofa.
