Francis Mark Courtney McGowan is an independent Scottish film-maker/producer/director, media personality and musician from Glasgow, Scotland, UK.While still a student of the Creative Industries in 2006, McGowan started work on several independent short films for The Horror Channel, eventually setting up 'Bad Pony Productions' in 2008 with school-friend and fellow producer Michelle Martin - the "dynamic duo" receiving their first BAFTA nomination for a student project, and the BBC aired "Looking After Mum".A Future 100 Award Winner, he has worked with STV and BBC as a producer and director, and has worked on many drama, comedy and children's projects behind the scenes and as an executive in development. His directorial debut was on the feature length TV pilot for series drama 'Ninety Eight Percent'. He makes his Hollywood debut on feature film 'Evening of the Dead'.McGowan is a well known Scottish media personality, and has made numerous appearances on daytime television -, most notably on celebrity chat and music show Open House with Gloria Hunniford - where he appeared alongside the likes of Elton John, Adam Rickett, Stephen Gately and Jenny Seagrove. He also made notable appearances on short-lived late night ITV debate show 'Trial By Night' and as a guest on BBC Radio Scotland.McGowan is drummer for acclaimed indie-rock band Eric and the Bunny Boilers, since the group formed at school.
