Emma attended the Queensland University of Technology where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Drama). Whilst majoring in set design, she also acted in university theatre productions. After completion of her degree she spent three years working for an animation studio making miniature sets and models for stop motion animated films and television. Then after meeting Mungo McKay in 2000 she took his advice and began studying with Lyn Kidd at The Actors Workshop. Since graduating there with a Diploma in film and television acting, she has participated in many film and television productions, and was awarded Best Female Actor at the Queensland New Film-Makers Awards for her work in Rebecca Parker's "Once I Was". Emma has worked with some of Australia's best film directors including Peter and Michael Spierig ("Predestination", "Undead") and Kriv Stenders ("Red Dog", "The Illustrated Family Doctor"). I came in thinking they were going to have this really fantastic piece of candy glass. I turned up and Michael (Spierig) said to me "we've had a bit of trouble getting the candy glass" and I said what do you mean? And he said "it's a bit expensive and we kinda ran out of money, hope that's alright." I was like, ok, what are you doing instead? And Michael said "well, we've got a real piece of glass and we're just gonna shoot it so that it looks like you're going through it" and I said, but I'm not actually going to go through it?
