Dennis Overeem

Dennis Overeem, (Amsterdam, 1971) is co-founder of the Buddy Film Foundation. A foundation that helps refugee filmmakers in The Netherlands to find work and help build a new network in the Dutch film industry. The first big project shall be a feature film, written and directed by Dennis. A romantic comedy set in a small village where the residents don't want an asylum center to close. The production starts in 2021. The production will employ over 90 refugees from 10 different countries. Dennis is a writer, director and actor. He starred in several drama- and comedy series (ONM, Samen, Bitches, Suzanne en de Mannen, Sophie's Web), films, (Unwanted, Kosovo's submission to the Foreign Language Film Award of the 90th Annual Academy Awards) and theatre plays (De Jantjes, nominated best actor Dutch Musical Awards). In 2009 he went to Los Angeles to train acting with Ivana Chubbuck. When he returned to the Netherlands he set his mind on being a writer and a director.
