Dee Dee is a first generation American, born to Caribbean parents and raised in San Jose, California. While attending UC Berkeley for her under graduate degree, she co-founded a production company, MaStep LLC, where she produced, directed, and hosted 2 programs: 'Dee Dee's Blog Spot' & 'The Maleena Lawrence Sh ow'. She also sang with the Grammy Award winning Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir. She moved to Los Angeles because she got accepted to the masters in acting program at the University of Southern California. In 3 years, she went from having no formal actor training to having leading roles in 2 of the 3 repertory plays.
