Born in Swaffham, Norfolk in 1952, David first tasted the thrill of performing on the stage at Swaffham Secondary Modern School as The Storyteller in the play The Snow Queen. Several years later he again trod the boards whilst studying for A Level exams at The Norfolk College of Arts and Technology when he studied drama as an additional subject. This time he played the role of Arthur in John Bowen's play After The Rain and received critical acclaim for his performance in the local press. It was to be many years before he was able to nurture these spring sown seeds. Careers in banking and latterly in the Fire Service kept him busy until 2008 when he retired in the rank of Assistant Divisional Officer. 23 years of his 29 and a bit years in the Service were as an Officer which entailed having close relations with members of the press giving many interviews at "shouts" and being involved with local radio and on a couple of occasions acting in reconstructions of incidents for television programmes. On retirement these previous experiences served him well to begin a new career in the entertainment field in the autumn years of his life and which continues to this day. A commercial for Edinburgh Woollen Mill was his first professional job and this was soon followed by cast roles as One Ball Barry in the film Malice in Wonderland, Mark in the film Grip and Lennard Stalin in the film Terror Nation. More recently one of David's most important roles was starring in the musical stage production The Legend of L'Inconnue as Supt Dr Harry Battley and three other roles. The show was presented to audiences in Stavanger, Paris, Dublin, London and local theatres in Norfolk and Suffolk. As David shares his name with a more famous David Frost he had to adopt a new stage name for Spotlight and Equity and chose the name of David Norfolk. This was a reflection of the pride he has for the County of his birth and residence. Most of his more recent credits are under his stage name David Norfolk. He chiefly performs in film and television roles. Show less «
