Established English actor recognized for his strong leading character portrayals. Elected to BAFTA (British Academy of Film & Television Arts) in 2002, he is known for his work on Robin des bois: Prince des voleurs (1991) with Kevin Costner & Morgan Freeman; headlining with Oliver Reed in the classic Orpheus & Eurydice (2000); and starring with Roy Dotrice and Brian Blessed in Olympiad 448 BC: Olympiad of Ancient Hellas (2004). His film and television roles have also seen him working alongside legendary German screen star Maria Schell in the sequel to the unique Mediterranean film and TV series 'Occupation' featuring screen icons Kurt Jürgens and Klaus Kinski; and on Rebus: The Falls (2006) alongside Natalie Dormer (Game of Thrones (2011)).Originating from Bolton, England, David's formative years were spent in UK, Europe, Asia, and America. Later developmental studies at RADA, etc., led to appearances in English favorites such as 'Eastenders', 'Rebus', 'Poirot', 'The Bill', 'Coronation Street', and others such as Carnaby Film's quirky comedy Lighthouse Hill (2004) along side Frank Finlay and UK comedy icons Maureen Lipman and John Sessions. Notable leading roles followed.... The Gathering (2004) (Royal Television Society Awards nomination); action-adventure Web of Deceit (2007) aka 'Gunner' (Cannes Film Festival entry); as 'Elron' (magical King of the Elves); and as 'Thor' (Thames TV).In addition to his film and television exposure David's early theatrical appearances list "Canterbury Tales" (The Miller), "As You Like It" (Jacques), "Blithe Spirit" (Dr Bradman), "A Man For All Seasons" (Lord Chapuys). It was this love of theatre that eventually led him to star as 'Big Danny' in the UK stage tour of 'The Hardman' (hard-hitting life story of Scottish gangster Jimmy Boyle based on Boyle's own book, 'Sense Of Freedom'), and later, under acclaimed American theatre director Elizabeth Sharland, as Victorian stage icon 'Henry Irving' in Sharland's London production of "A Shakespeare Anthology".But he is ever the 'Philosopher' ... his own favorite quotation being from the words of his illustrious idol 'Sir Laurence Olivier' on actors and acting..."We are as immediate as the moment..." :) Show less «
