Stage and film actress and director Carolina Hoyos was born in Washington, DC. and raised in nearby Fairfax, Virginia. Her childhood as a competitive classical concert pianist and elementary school chorus accompanist was enriched with acting and directing after she played a ship captain in her 1st grade play. Her days quickly filled up with local commercials and theater as well as hosting and performing on DC/MD/VA cable access show "U.S. Kids". While in her 1st year studying theater at Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in NYC, she launched her TV career on Beat Seekers (2002), appearing on the pop culture talk show for 3 seasons.Carolina's most recent screen work includes playing Antonella in Nicolas Winding Refn show Too Old to Die Young (2019), a cameo in Under the Silver Lake (2018) and starring roles in the Jason Brown Lewis sitcom pilot "The Gym" alongside Quinton Aaron of The Blind Side - l'éveil d'un champion (2009) and Native American LGBT family drama "Polar Sun" by Katie Doane Avery.Carolina originated the role of Seen By Her Nation in post punk rock opera "Sitting Bull's Last Waltz". The show was a benefit for Standing Rock with musical direction by Gregg Foreman of Cat Power. She also played Desiree in the LA cast of Sincerely, Mom, Maddy in Match, Indigo in Jimi Hendrix play "Jimi'sthesia", and Delita in Pulitzer Prize winner Nilo Cruz play "Hortensia & the Museum of Dreams". Carolina played Justin Timberlake in gender bending "Jimmy and Justin Play" and made cameos in the reality series Gene Simmons: Family Jewels (2006) and Pharrell Williams 's music video for Oscar Nominated song "Happy" from Moi, moche et méchant 2 (2013). She is a current member of Artist Ensemble Native Voices and sketch troupes 'Nightpantz [US]' and The Mayflower Welcoming Committee. Carolina and Nightpantz are regularly featured on Upworthy, BuzzFeed, Huffington Post, WhoHaha, Comedy Cake and Funny or Die.Carolina is also a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. As an actor, Carolina is often typecast as the musician and/or homeless streetwise girl, often featuring her own music and weathered clothing from her life on the road. Carolina's former band, Morgan Ave, appeared in the films 30 ans sinon rien (2004) with Jennifer Garner and Shooting Livien (2005) with Dominic Monaghan. Another single, "Bang Bang Bang" features Jeremiah Bitsuiwho played Victor in the groundbreaking series Breaking Bad (2008). Carolina directed the video for "Bang Bang Bang" and a remix of the song has spawned 50 fan video game edits on YouTube totaling 400K+ views.Carolina often makes time for her favorite charities. She regularly performs bedside for cancer patients with Musicians On Call, for homeless veterans at PATH (People Assisting The Homeless) and hospital patients through LIFEbeat's Hearts & Voices Program (Music Industry fights AIDS). She played football in the inaugural Alzheimer's Association's Blondes vs Brunettes game and performed at fund raisers for The Autism Society, UCLA American Indian Alumnae Scholarship fund, a Women's Rights concert to benefit Multiple Sclerosis, A Very Jaggered XMAS to benefit the Pediatric AIDS Foundation, Celebrate Life for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and at the Breast Cancer Race for the Cure.
