Carol Lynn Maillard is a gifted actress/singer/songwriter who has appeared in many Broadway and off-Broadway productions such as 'Beehive', 'Eubie', 'Spunk', 'Zooman and the Sign', 'Don't Get God Started', 'Home', 'For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When The Rainbow Is Enuf' and 'Comin' Uptown'. Born and raised in Philadelphia, she developed her musical talents on the violin, but her love of acting helped her to become a part of the D.C. Black Repertory company while attending Catholic University of America. It was at this time that she became a founding member of the Grammy award winning acappella ensemble, 'Sweet Honey in the Rock'. As well as performing in theatre and in national commercials, Carol has appeared in the films, 'Thirty Years To Life', _Beloved (1998)_, _Hallelujah (1993) (TV)_ and on television in American Playhouse: For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When the Rainbow Is Enuf (1982) and "Law and Order Special Victims Unit". An accomplished singer and performer, she has recorded and worked with Horace Silver (Music of the Spheres), Max Roach (The Life and Life of Bumpy Johnson), Betty Buckley (Live at Carnegie Hall) and on the SYDA Foundations inspirational recording, Sounds Of Light. Her arrangement of Motherless Child for Sweet Honey in the Rock is featured in the film 'The Visit' and in the documentary on Dorothy Height, 'We Are Not Vanishing'. Along with Sweet honey, she co-wrote and co-produced the score/songs for 'The Nativity', a music video for the American Bible Society (2000). Ms. Maillard is presently Conceptual Producer for the documentary celebrating Sweet Honey in the Rock's 30th Anniversary year (2003) which will be shown on public television during the 2004-05 season.
