Carly Wijs is best known for her role as the ex-wife from hell Tamar Mandelbaum in the hit series Divorce (2012) by RTL 4. She also appeared in Oud geld (1998), a drama series made by Willem van de Sande Bakhuyzen and screenwriter Maria Goos. She had major roles in the Telefilm Cop vs. Killer (2012) and the series Lijn 32 (2012). In 2017 she played one of the main characters in the Videoland series Suspects (2017) and she appeared in the mini-series De Maatschap (2016).After Carly graduated from the Maastricht Theater Academy in 1990, she performed with various theatre companies including the Needcompany, the Ro Theater, NTGent, the Roovers, Victoria and the Zuidelijk Toneel. With De Onderneming Carly made the performance The Notebook and The Proof, which were shown at the Edinburgh Festival, the Dublin Theater Festival and the Toronto Waterfront Festival. In 2014 she wrote and directed the performance Us/Them in Brussels at the Bronkstheatre. In 2016 Carly Wijs won the prestigious Fringe award for this performance at The Edinburgh Fringe. Us/Them is touring worldwide: in 2018 the performance visited Australia, New Zealand, United States, Canada and Europe. Us/Them has been translated into English, French, German, Hungarian, Swedish, Turkish and Japanese.Carly has played in several international television productions. In 1998, she took part in the American production Rescuers: Stories of Courage: Two Couples (1998) and together with Ben Kingsley she appeared in the TV movie Anne Frank (2001). She also played a role in the TV film Brush with Fate (2003) about the artist Johannes Vermeer and played in the European co-production The Spiral (2012).In the Dutch cinemas Carly could be seen in the blockbuster Alles is liefde (2007), Quiz (2012) by Dick Maas and Rokjesdag (2016). In 2017 she played in three cinema films; Oude liefde (2017), Love Over Distance (2017) and Gek van geluk (2017). Carly also performed in numerous Dutch television series including Pleidooi (1993), Jardins secrets (2005), De enclave (2002), Zwarte sneeuw (1996), Verborgen gebreken (2009), Keyzer & De Boer advocaten (2005) and Verliefd op Ibiza (2013).
