In film, Bernardo has acted in Cielito Lindo, Xibalba and Olvidados, among others. In 2013, Bernardo returned to his native country, Bolivia to contribute to the evolving theatre and film industry. While in Bolivia, he acted in El Santo y La Chancha by Ariano Suassuna and El Pacto by Camila Urioste and in 2014 directed True West by Sam Shepard.
