Becka Linder is the middle child of Joel and Patricia Thompson. Her older sister, Angela Thompson Fischer, is an OB-GYN surgeon practicing in their hometown of Minneapolis, and her younger brother, Chris Thompson is a Biology and Chemistry teacher.Although she went to the same high school as her husband Ben, they did not meet until a mutual friend set them up while living in New York City and attending The Juilliard School.She wrote and directed her first feature, "Jwah Da Vee", and shot it in a mere 5 days on the shores of Lake Superior in August of 2006.
