She is best known for her contribution to WARU, directing TITTY & BASH, one of the vignettes which make up the award-winning portmanteau film. Awanui's other directing credits include prime-time TV drama HEAD HIGH and popular bilingual coming-of-age drama AHIKAROA, as well as the short thriller RU.
