Alistair Griffin

After very nearly becoming a member of Blue, singer/songwriter Alistair Griffin attended the auditions for the first series of "Fame Academy" in 2002 - again getting through to the very last audition before the last 13 contestants were chosen.However, undeterred, Alistair auditioned for the series again in 2003, when the judges chose the last 25 and the last 13 were chosen by the viewing public. Alistair promptly went through in the first heat and made it all the way to the final where he was narrowly beaten by Alex Parks.It was not only Alistair's melodic voice but also his skill as a songwriter that shone through in 'Fame Academy', winning all the weekly songwriting competitions, again voted for by the publicHis debut single - a double A-side featuring the self-penned 'Bring It On' and duet with 'Fame Academy' judge, Robin Gibb, of the Bee Gees' song 'Lover's Prayer - entered the UK singles charts at No5. The video for 'Bring It On' was the most requested video on UK satellite channel, 'The Box' for a record 7 weeks.Alistair's debut album, also entitled 'Bring It On', entered the UK charts at no. 12 in the UK and from it was taken his second single, 'You & Me (Tonight)'.Alistair has gone on to support Robin Gibb on his tour of Germany and Cliff Richard at his annual pro-celebrity charity tennis event. He is currently writing for a soundtrack, as well as material for his second album.Middlesbrough-born Alistair now lives most of the time in London where he shares a flat with fellow 'Fame Academy' student, James Fox, who finished fifth in the series.
