Al Beaudine's career started in the early 1960s when he started receiving work as an extra and as a stand-in for films. Beaudine struggled to find work in westerns because his plus sized appearance really didn't lend itself towards Hollywood's characterizations of the old west so he can mainly be found in dramas usually working as a stand-in.Like most extras, Beaudine built a reputation for being dependable and a good stand-in. With the increase of detective dramas, he found himself constantly in work in shows like Columbo and Kojak. He was usually a stand-in for a guest actor and sometimes found steady work in movies like All the Presidents Men because he worked stand-in as an actor for as long as the actor was involved in the production.By the late 1970s, he became the regular stand-in for Edward Asner on Lou Grant. It also provided another source of income for him because his wife started to appear as an extra in various productions. After the cancellation of Lou Grant, Beaudine decided to retire with his wife Jeanette until he passed away in 2000. Show less «
